Astrolabe Booksellers will ensure that your orders are adequately packed, and will happily accept returns without question in the unlikely event that a book has been damaged in transit.
The postage rates – for ordinary and expedited
delivery – that appear with orders from this website are based on an the
cost of sending an average-sized parcel weighing between 500 grams and 1
kilogram (for a single book), or between 1.5 and 2kg (for two books).
The actual cost of postage varies according to the size & weight of
the parcel and its destination, and the costs of international parcels
are also subject to exchange rate fluctuations. Furthermore, postage
charges change with an unnerving frequency, although we do endeavour to
keep our quoted rates up to date.
All this means
that we may have to ask you for additional postage if your order is for a
book, or set of books, that is larger or heavier than average - but no
amount in excess of our quoted rates will be charged without your
approval. If the actual cost of postage is below the quoted rate - e.g. for packages under 500g - we will reduce the
postage charge accordingly.
otherwise stated, none of our quoted rates include extra services such
as signature-on-delivery, registration or insurance. Please enquire if you would like
any extras and we will advise the cost.
parcels, the lower rate quoted is for Australia Post's Economy Air service (8-10 business days) or Skippy
Post, an affiliate of Spring Global Mail (2-3 weeks). For both these services, tracking is an additional charge. The higher rate is for Australia Post's Standard Air Mail
(6 business days, with tracking). If you would like us to use a Courier service we
can quote the cost for your parcel on request. Note that Sea Mail is available but it is not always cheaper and it is very slow. Consequently, we rarely use it, but we can quote the rate for your parcel on request.
If you have any queries about any of the postal charges please contact us using the email address below - or simply request a quote as part of the order process.
