First edition. xii, 182 (last blank), [183]-260 (appendix) pp, large folding coloured map (by J. Arrowsmith), frontis and one other plate (both also by Arrowsmith - the VDL Co's establishments at Circular Head & Emu Bay). Maroon half calf and matching cloth, spine lettered in gilt, raised bands; the cloth with some light flecking (mostly to the rear). The plates dulled and with a light damp stain across their lower section, which has also affected, to a lesser degree, some sections (the first 10 leaves, pp77-98, the leaves either side of the second plate, and the last 20 leaves); otherwise clean. The map is in very good clean condition apart from minor offsetting. ***Ferguson 1517. Includes the VDL Co's report for 1832, accounts of the Company's exploratory efforts in the interior and, as an appendix, Governor Arthur's despatches on the Aborigines and their growing resistance to the European settlement.
