All issues are stapled in wrappers, as issued, and in very good condition. ***Braddon (later Sir Edward), settled in north-west Tasmania in the late 1870s after a career in India. He was soon active in public affairs, serving in the Tasmanian Parliament and becoming Premier in 1894, and became a leading figure in the Federation of the Australian colonies and the early Commonwealth. The letters which comprise the second article were written soon after his arrival in Tasmania, as a series of articles for the 'Calcutta Statesman and Friend of India'.
