Illustrated by the Authors. Preface by Sir Ernest Shackleton. Facsimile reprint: 280 numbered copies replicating the 1913 'de luxe' edition, also of 280 numbered copies (#164 has been used for the facsimile), with a new introduction by Joe O'Farrell. x, [ii], xxii, 200pp, 4 colour illustrations, 37 black & white illustrations, facsimile of Shackleton, Murray and Marston's signatures on the half-title page. A fine clean (new) copy. ISBN 1852971142 *** First published in 1913 by Andrew Melrose, London, in deluxe and trade editions. The original adds the sub-title 'Sketches of the homely side of polar life by two of Shackleton's men'. Apparently some, but not all, of the original dustwrappers for the special issue stated 'Edition De Luxe limited to 250 copies'. The facsimile wrapper herewith reproduces that statement, although in fact the print run of the 1913 special edition was 280 copies, as is this case with this facsimile.
