Second edition. Two volumes. 8vo. [I] xvi, 418pp, engraved title and 6 plates. [II] x, 412pp, engraved title and 6 plates. (The additional engraved titles are dated 1835, and presumably from the first edition.) An author's preface to this edition answers some of the criticisms levelled at the first edition. Contemporary green half leather, raised bands and title labels, with marbled paper sides; the spines dulled and extremities rubbed, with the paper chipping along the edges. The plates are browned and have offset to adjacent pages, otherwise internally clean. Old clean tears to pp415/16 of the first volume and pp411/12 of ther second have been neatly closed (not recently). Bookplate of Lt. General Sir Charles Gairdner (Governor of WA 1951-63 and Tasmania 1963-68) on front paste-down of each volume. A good set.
