[I] liv, 366pp (and chapter half-title leaves not included in pagination, 7 with woodcut vignettes), frontis and 4 other lithographic plates (one folding), 6 maps (two folding). [II] [v]-xii (but complete), 448pp (and chapter half-titles as above, 10 with vignettes), frontis and 2 other lithographic plates, 2 maps (one large folding), 2 text illustrations (one not listed); 16pp publisher's adverts (A List of Works of General Literature dated January 1847). Includes appendices on the geology of Tasmania, NZ and Antarctica by Robert M'Cormick, surgeon on HMS Erebus, and one on the Point Puer prison for boys at Port Arthur. Original blue-green cloth, lettered in gilt, gilt-stamped vignette of ship in the ice,with Southern Cross, on the upper boards and blind-stamped decoration on the lower boards, blind rules; rebacked with the original spines laid down (and a little sunned, with the slight abrading of the lettering), extremities rubbed. The original pale yellow endpapers have been strengthened at the hinges with Japanese tissue, an owner's bookplate on the front paste-downs, her name, and another's, on the free endpapers. Some light spotting and offsetting early in each volume, otherwise clean inside. The lower corner of the large folding map in Vol II has been neatly repaired (well away from the map image).
