ISBN 0977546209 ***Charlotte Cleveland (1819-84) arrived in Launceston, Van Diemen's Land, with her husband William and four small children in August 1852. William had previously been in the colony 1838-42, trading cargo between Launceston, Adelaide and Sydney in his vessel 'Munford', and had bought property near Launceston before his return to England. The family lived in Launceston until 1864 when they moved to Melbourne, but returned in 1877. This book features her journal of the 1852 voyage, with additional information about their lives in the colonies, and about her artwork. Charlotte was an accomplished amateur artist: her watercolour sketch of the Signal Station on Windmill Hill is its only known image.
